Hey All,  today I am here to share some important tips for changing weather as the rainy season has gone and after this, there will be lots of new problems and diseases, out of the most common is Fever.

But before that, we should know about the fever exactly. What are the minimum and maximum temperatures of our body?

Just forehead or palms, soles “feeling” warm should be taken as fever.

Rectal 100.40 °F
Oral  99.50 °F
Axilla (Arm-pit)  99.0 °F

Doctors said recommend if the body temp is above 99.0 °F.

100 °F is low fever symptoms

If the fever is 101 °F is a high grade.

Pattern of fever is very important clue to the treating doctor- whether continuous or intermittent, with or without chills etc. So it is wise for parents to maintain a temp chart at home and bring it to your doctor.

Today I am talking about some main important types of fever. Nowadays Chikungunya, Dengue, and malaria is a more common type of fever.

Firstly, we will talk about chikungunya.

Chikungunya is a rare viral infection transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito. It is characterized by a rash, fever, and severe joint pain (arthralgias) that usually lasts for three to seven days. Chikungunya is an infectious tropical disease caused by a virus that belongs to the group of A arboviruses. It is transmitted by various species of mosquitoes.

Signs & Symptoms of chikungunya

The symptoms of chikungunya fever differ from the normal fever as it is accompanied by acute joint pain (arthralgias) that may be so severe. The knees, elbows, wrists, ankles, and/or fingers are generally affected. Other symptoms may include, sore throat, lack of appetite.

Chikungunya Diagnosis

The diagnosis of Chikungunya may be confirmed by a specialized blood test that detects immune responses to the virus (ELISA test).

Precautions to control chikungunya

  1. Most of the person are saying in day time there is no use of Goodknight or any other mosquito repellent. The mosquitoes that spread chikungunya, bite during the daytime, hence ensure that you use liquid vaporizer like Goodknight Activ+ even during the daytime, you can also use Goodknight Fast Card when you require few hours of protection.
  2. Mosquitoes are a big problem both inside and outside so whenever you are going out or if you are inside at home make sure to use the goodnight fabric roll on 4 dots that very much effectively worked on. Also, it’s simply a handy product to carry with you in your purse, bag, etc.
  3. Do use the full sleeves clothes to prevent mosquito bites.
  4. Keep your home and nearby clean.
  5. Getting rid of stagnant water bodies in and around your home is the most important precaution as these water bodies have the potential to become breeding sites for mosquitoes.
  6. Change the storage of water at Cooler, Fridge, Pet’s pot.

Dengue Fever

Dengue is nowadays a very common fever and every year number of patients is increasing. So will talk here about dengue symptoms, causes, prevention.

Dengue Fever is a viral infection fever. It is caused by the bite from mosquitoes. In Dengue first symptoms are skin rashes and high fever with pain in the head and body.

The secondary forms of this disorder are called Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and Dengue Shock Syndrome. These usually are caused by a secondary infection with a different type of Dengue virus. We suggest you get a general understanding of dengue fever.

“The annual number of dengue fever cases in India was around 6 million between 2006 and 2012, says study.”

Signs & Symptoms

Dengue Fever is a disorder transmitted by female mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus.

The patient has chills or chilly sensations, a fever, exhaustion, diarrhea, and/or vomiting. Pain behind the eyeballs (postorbital) occurs on moving the head.

The head, lower back, legs and joints ache.

The patient feels very weak.

The temperature rises rapidly, sometimes to as high as 40°C or 104°F, accompanied by a relatively slow heartbeat (bradycardia) and abnormally low blood pressure.

The lymph glands in the neck, shoulder, and groin are usually enlarged.

Two or three days after the first fever, a rash of flat or elevated (maculopapular) spots appears, particularly on the face. A second temperature rise follows. The presence of the Dengue virus in the blood (viremia) can confirm the diagnosis.

Causes

Dengue Fever is caused by a virus. There is no vaccine, so travelers going to parts of the world where it is endemic during Dengue season (July to November) are urged to protect themselves from mosquito bites by wearing protective clothing and mosquito repellent.

Diagnosis

Dengue fever is diagnosed by testing a blood sample for the presence of the dengue virus or its antibodies, specifically immunoglobulin M (IgM).

Standard Therapies & Treatment

Complete bed rest is important. Affected individuals should take measures to avoid additional mosquito bites in order to prevent reinfection. Fluids should be given to compensate the dehydration. Apply a personal repellent like Goodknight Fabric Roll-On, just 4 dots on your clothes for 8 hours protection from mosquitoes when outdoor. Ensure your family’s safety indoors with the Goodknight Activ+ System, use it even in the daytime as dengue mosquitoes mostly prefer to bite in the mornings and late afternoon.

So next we will talk over malaria fever that is again a very common type of fever. Malaria is an easily communicable disorder spread through the bite of the Anopheles mosquito.

Malaria Fever Symptoms

Malaria symptoms usually appear between 10 to 15 days after the mosquito bites.

Malaria infection is usually characterized by recurrent attacks exhibiting the following signs and symptoms:

  • Moderate to severe shaking, chills (rigors)
  • High-grade fever (which comes and goes)
  • Profuse sweating

In some types, malaria fever occurs in 48-hour cycles. During these cycles, the person feels cold at first and experiences profound shivering, and develops a fever, which is accompanied by severe sweating and fatigue. These symptoms usually last for 6 to 12 hours.

With the correct diagnosis and management, Malaria is a highly preventable and treatable disease. Besides supportive care, appropriate antibiotics are given for Malaria treatment.

How to Prevent Malaria

Malaria can be avoided by using the ABCD approach to prevention –

  • Awareness of risk– Look around to check if you are at risk of getting Malaria
  • Bite prevention– Avoid mosquito bites by using indoor and outdoor insect repellents, wearing covered clothes, and using a mosquito net. Try Goodknight Activ+ at home to keep pesky mosquitoes away. When you step outside, make sure to apply just 4 dots of the Goodknight Fabric Roll-On on your clothes to stay protected from mosquitoes for up to 8 hours
  • Check for breeding areas – Clear any standing water in your vicinity and don’t let water get stagnated in tyres, pots, and outdoor air coolers
  • Diagnosis – Seek immediate medical help if Malaria symptoms are noticed

With the correct diagnosis and management, Malaria is a highly preventable and treatable disease. Besides supportive care, appropriate antibiotics are given for Malaria treatment.
