I am scared. I am very scared. I don’t feel like walking out of my home. It’s not because I don’t want to, but because I am scared. Scared of being raped. Scared of being the next victim. Am I the only one scared? No. There are many. In fact all the women. This society is not safe for anyone. Being a girl is no less than a curse. Be it an eight-month-old child or a five-year-old or an eighteen-year-old, no one is safe in this country. But why?
The country is once known for its tradition, rich culture, and heritage is now known as the rape country. The animals in the form of desperate men in society are turning this beautiful country into a country where women have to face fear every day. A mother cannot allow her girl child to go out of home, and a mother whose daughter is studying in a college in some other state is not able to sleep in peace. The only thought that runs into her mind is ‘IS MY DAUGHTER SAFE?’. And she should be worried because girls are just a toy in this society.
A 26-year-old was gang-raped and burned in Hyderabad, a 25-year-old was raped by twelve men in Ranchi, a 20-year-old was raped and hanged to death in Tamilnadu, a 14-year-old was raped by two men in Gujarat, an 11-year-old raped by an auto driver in Chandigarh; All these rape cases are from the same day. Different state but same behavior. Who are to be blamed for this increasingly devilish behavior by the so-called ‘men’ of society?
India is turning out to be a country where it does not matter how hard we work, how well we do in life, or how successful we may become but we women will always be a piece of meat for the evils of society. The events and news of the last few days have made me angry, disappointed, and helpless. Now it’s time we take our safety into our own hands. There is no point in waiting for strict laws to be created and executed so that women are safe. The government will have nothing to say now, and the media will dispose of the story after two or three days, but we women will always have to fear being raped and killed.
To all the ladies stop being feared. Take steps to stop your fear because it’s high time you should realize that no one is concerned about these events and there is no one who can help us other than ourselves. Enroll yourself in self-defense classes. Self-defense classes for Karate and Muay Thai are enough for you to take care of yourself when the need arises.
Always remember to carry pepper spray with you. Advocate people in your homes to help others in need and RESPECT ALL WOMEN!

You are right, our protection is in our own hands. Self-defence and pepper sprays definitely help, but it’s important to be aware of our surroundings and to trust no one.

Oh honestly there is a rage inside of me which wishes every one with even the thought or intent of harm and rape to be Byrnes to death. I really want death penalty for all such perpetrators.

That’s totally true our protection is in our hand, in fact, I ask my daughter also to carry pepper spray with her, wherever she go. And soon she will start taking karate class too.

A fascinating discussion is definitely worth comment.
I think that you need to write more about this subject matter, it may not be a
taboo matter but usually people don’t discuss these topics.
To the next! All the best!!
